Getting Started

Quick Start Guide

Get up and running with Support Station in just a few minutes. This guide walks you through the essential setup steps to start handling customer support.

Step 1: Create Your Organization

When you first sign up, you'll create an organization. This is your workspace where all your tickets, knowledge base articles, and team members live.

  1. Sign up at supportstation.io
  2. Enter your organization name
  3. Choose your organization's timezone (used for reporting)
  4. Complete the onboarding flow

Step 2: Invite Your Team

Support Station's paid plans include unlimited team members. Add your support team right away:

  1. Go to Settings > Organization
  2. Click Invite Member
  3. Enter their email address and select a role
  4. They'll receive an invitation email to join

Step 3: Set Up Your Knowledge Base

Your knowledge base powers both your public help center and your AI agent. Start by creating a few articles:

  1. Navigate to Knowledge Base in the sidebar
  2. Click New Article
  3. Write your first help article (start with FAQs or getting started content)
  4. Set the article to Published when ready
  5. Your article is now live at your-org.supportstation.io/kb

Tip: The more articles you publish, the better your AI agent can help customers.

Step 4: Install the Support Widget

The support widget lets customers contact you directly from your website:

  1. Go to Integrations > Widget
  2. Copy the embed code snippet
  3. Paste it into your website's HTML, just before the closing </body> tag
  4. The widget will appear on your site

The widget offers two modes:

  • Support Form: Customers submit tickets directly
  • AI Chat: Customers chat with your AI agent first (available on Starter+ plans)

Step 5: Create Your First Ticket

Test the system by creating a ticket:

  1. Go to Tickets in the sidebar
  2. Click Create Ticket
  3. Fill in the customer email, subject, and description
  4. Click Create

You can also submit a test ticket through your widget to see the full customer experience.

Step 6: Organize with Tags

Tags help you categorize and route tickets:

  1. Go to Settings > Tags
  2. Create tags for common categories (e.g., "Billing", "Technical", "Feature Request")
  3. Apply tags to tickets to keep things organized
  4. Optionally, set up auto-routing to send tagged tickets to specific teams

What's Next?

Now that you're set up, explore these features from the sidebar:

  • Connect Slack (Integrations > Slack) to receive ticket notifications and reply from Slack
  • Set up Email Integration (Integrations > Email) to handle email support
  • Create Teams (Settings > Teams) for different support areas
  • Explore Analytics to track your support performance

If you run into any issues during setup:

  • Browse the Knowledge Base for detailed guides
  • Use the AI chat (Pro plans) to get instant answers
